Meet the Lonesome Ace Stringband

If you like old time Appalachian music, you should come see The Lonesome Ace Stringband.  Three talented musicians in their own right come together and create music that will have you tapping your feet and in awe of their virtuosity and artistry.

Chris Coole on banjo has been involved with over 150 recordings including David Francey, Jim Cuddy and Natalie MacMaster.  Chances are he’s playing fiddle on one of your favourite CDs.  He has been playing since he was 17 and spent 10 years learning his craft by busking in Toronto.

John Showman has played fiddle since he was 6.  He started in classical violin until he was 19 and tired of it.  He didn’t play again until he heard Irish fiddle player, Kevin Burke.  And since then he hasn’t stopped.

Max Heineman was born into a musical family.  By the time he was 12, he was singing and playing bass with his family’s band in a weekly gig.  He got his first upright bass in high school and discovered bluegrass in 1998.

In 2009 they decided to form The Lonesome Ace Stringband and we are lucky they are gracing Desboro Music Hall with their amazing musicianship.  This is a show you don’t want to miss, especially if you love bluegrass.

Come see them live on Sat Sept 22

Meet Zachary Lucky

If you like reflective, good ole country music sung with a smooth baritone, Zachary Lucky’s music will be perfect you.  It’s the kind of music that is ideal for sitting around a campfire at the end of a long week, the kind of music to unwind and relax to.  Zach’s deep voice captures you within his storytelling, keeping you mesmerized.  It will be a night of “unapologetically old school country” music.  In 2017, he was nominated for Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and we’re lucky he’s come to Desboro.  Originally from Saskatoon, country music is deep in his bloodlines as his grandfather and grandmother were Smilin’ Johnnie Lucky and Eleanor Dahl, Canadian country legends.  Don’t miss your chance to catch him.  It’s a great weekend show.

Meet The O’Pears

A new season at Desboro Music Hall is about to begin on Friday April 20th.  We’re also very proud to present an all-female line-up for our Season Opener with The O’Pears and Madison Galloway.

We are so excited to hear the O’Pears in our Hall.  Our Hall was made for 3-part harmony and acapella.  If you’ve never been to our Hall, picture an arched wood ceiling with wood wainscotting and imagine how the sound and harmonies will echo and surround you where you sit.  The O’Pears music will be the perfect complement to our Hall, creating a warm, intimate show that will draw people in.  It’s going to be an exquisite night of music.  Listen to them talk about their album below.  Then come out to the Hall to experience it live as there’s nothing like it.

Don’t miss out.  It’s going to be a beautiful concert.  Get your tickets now.

Meet The Redhill Valleys

We have actually never met the Redhill Valleys except through their music.  And it is their music which captured our interest.  Each song finds it’s notes from various roots; a bit of country, a bit of folk, some soul and Americana and a touch of rock all meld together with beautiful harmonies to create their sound.  Guitarist Danielle Beaudin, bassist Chelsea McWilliams and drummer/guitarist Tim Allard each take a turn at lead vocals, which keep their songs interesting and varied.

They released their first album, self titled in April 2016 and we’re so proud to have them join us in Desboro.  We have been looking forward to this concert.  Keep your eye on them.  They’re a talented group and they’re going to be big but you’ll be able to say you heard them first at Desboro Music Hall.  Get your tickets now.

Check out one of our favourite tunes of theirs:
